Energy poverty through the lens of the energy-environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis

We revisit the concept of energy poverty by considering population's access to consumption. stress critical relevant linkages including (i) economic growth and consumption, (ii) consumption income inequality (iii) electricity production. Our analytical framework is based on a panel data-set from over 200 countries for period 2000–2019. To best our knowledge, this first study focus both global aggregate sample differences between high low economies. Main findings provide support Energy-Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis. find that, link renewable exhibits U-shaped curve, while that fossil fuel an inverted curve. In addition, increase in reduces inequality. Furthermore, stronger positively affects production sources, it coal. Finally, results remain qualitatively similar across different levels income, controlling potential endogeneity. Findings raise important policy implications, particularly impact poverty.
